The US Bureau of Labor Statistics does not list yoga teachers as a separate job. It places them with group fitness instructors and personal trainers. That makes its Occupational Outlook Handbook entry for fitness trainers and instructors the best public benchmark, so we start there.
Searches for a yoga teacher salary or a Bikram yoga teacher salary expect one figure, but the range is wide. The gap between the bottom and the top is the real story. A teacher who only fills studio slots sits near the bottom. A teacher who adds private clients, workshops and training work around the same certificate can sit much higher. Because of that, the median alone tells you little about your own path.
One more point matters before you plan a budget. The 2016 Yoga in America study found that only 29% of teachers rely on yoga as their main income. For most teachers, yoga sits beside another job, a business or a partner's income. That is normal, not a sign of failure.

So how much do yoga teachers earn for one class? Studios often pay a flat fee per class, while gyms pay by the hour. Published class rates differ a lot between job boards and cities, and we could not verify one rate that fits everywhere. So we did simple arithmetic instead. We divided the BLS yearly wages by a 2,080-hour work year, then applied the result to a 90-minute Hot 26&2 class.

Treat these as a floor, a middle and a ceiling to hold against any offer. They are not promises. A fair Bikram yoga teacher salary starts from the class rate, not from a guess. A studio that offers far below the floor is asking you to work for free, and a studio that offers near the ceiling is paying for reputation.
Unpaid time also changes the picture. Set-up, travel, warming the room and talking to students rarely earn a fee. A 90-minute class that takes two and a half hours door to door pays about $34 at the median rate. That works out near $14 for every hour you give to it, so count your whole time, not only the class.

Look at the last row. Twenty-four hot classes a week is a heavy load. In a 2014 University of Wisconsin study (Porcari et al.), men burned about 460 kcal in a 90-minute Bikram class and worked at around 80% of predicted maximum heart rate. Teaching that class day after day is physical work, so most teachers cannot keep a very high load for years.
