Tripaneer Bankruptcy: Deposit Payers and What to Do Next

The Tripaneer bankruptcy affects anyone who paid a deposit through BookYogaRetreats or BookYogaTeacherTraining, and the most useful thing you can do today is act in the right order. Start by saving your paperwork, then ask your bank and your insurer about their options, and only then decide what you want to do about your training. YogaFX may be able to turn a verified deposit into full credit towards an eligible course in Bali.

What happened to Tripaneer

Tripaneer B.V. is a Dutch company based in Amsterdam. Its case appears on ClaimsAgent under court file F.13/26/306, with a trustee, mr V.G.M. Leferink, listed for the proceedings. The register shows the bankruptcy judgment on 30 September 2026. BookRetreats, a different company, writes 1 October 2026 in its own guide, so you will see both dates online. A first creditors' meeting is listed for 9 December 2026 at 10:30.

On its about page, Tripaneer names BookYogaRetreats and BookYogaTeacherTraining among its brands. If your booking came through either of those, this bankruptcy is the one that concerns you. If it came through BookRetreats, read the next section carefully.

BookRetreats is not part of this case

BookRetreats has stated publicly that it operates independently of Tripaneer and BookYogaRetreats. Its guide for retreat hosts says so directly. The names are confusingly similar, so look at the logo and sender address on your receipt before assuming anything. If you booked with BookRetreats, your first call is to BookRetreats and your host, not to the Tripaneer trustee.

A practical timeline

Today

  • Find your confirmation email and receipt and save them as PDFs in one folder.
  • Screenshot your account page on the booking platform if you can still log in.
  • Note the deposit amount, currency, payment date and the last four digits of the card used.

This week

  • Write to your host and ask whether the booking stands and whether any deposit reached them.
  • Call your bank or card provider and ask what dispute options exist, and what the time limit is.
  • Read your travel insurance wording for supplier failure or insolvency cover.
  • Email YogaFX if you want a course credit reviewed.

Before the creditors' meeting on 9 December

  • Read the claim instructions on the ClaimsAgent page and decide whether to file.
  • Keep notes of every reply you receive, with dates.
  • Update YogaFX if you receive any refund, so the credit calculation stays accurate.

Nothing in this list requires you to pay anyone. If a company or individual contacts you offering to recover your deposit for a fee, treat that with caution. For more background, you can read the updated guide for Tripaneer deposit payers.

What YogaFX may be able to do

YogaFX may be able to provide full credit for your verified deposit toward the next available eligible YogaFX Yoga Teacher Training course in Bali. The key word is verified: we need to see your booking confirmation and proof of payment, and we need to understand which course you originally planned to take.

Once we have those, a member of the team will reply personally. If the credit can be applied, we put the amount, course, dates, remaining balance and any conditions in writing. You then decide. If you pass, nothing changes between us.

What it is not

  • It is not a refund of cash, and YogaFX is not paying Tripaneer's debts.
  • It does not mean Tripaneer has transferred your money to YogaFX.
  • It is not automatic, because each request is looked at individually.

To show how the numbers work, imagine a verified deposit of USD 300 and an eligible course priced at USD 2,000. A full credit would leave USD 1,700 to pay. This is an illustration only, not a current quote, and prices change by course and date.

The course the credit would apply to

YogaFX is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School, which you can confirm on its public profile. The main programme combines online study at home with a 6-day intensive in Seminyak, Bali, limited to 19 students. Graduates receive Yoga Alliance RYT 200 and Bikram Hot 26&2 certification. The next MasterClass is 24 to 29 January 2027.

Before you decide, it helps to see the current course dates, read what the course inclusions cover, and skim the FAQs. If you want to know who you would be learning from, there is a page about the lead trainer.

One honest note: finishing the course and registering with Yoga Alliance are two separate things. Ask us to confirm the current registration pathway and completion requirements for your chosen course before you commit.

Who you would train with

The academy is led by Mr. Ian Terry, E-RYT 500. He has taught more than 12,000 hours, has trained over 1,500 graduates from more than 80 countries, and studied directly under Bikram Choudhury at five events between 2012 and 2019. In June 2026 his appointment as Master Trainer of the Republic of Indonesia Yogasana Sports Federation was confirmed. These are verifiable facts about his background, not promises about your results.

Three common situations and how to approach them

You booked a teacher training course for a date that has not happened yet

This is the group most exposed. According to BookRetreats' summary of how Tripaneer worked, the deposit normally reached the host only after the guest arrived. So your deposit is probably still with the bankrupt company. Contact your bank first, then tell your host what has happened, and consider asking YogaFX whether a verified deposit can be credited toward a Bali course.

You already completed the training

If you have already attended, the deposit was most likely released to the host before the bankruptcy, and your position is different. You may still want to check that your balance was recorded correctly with the host. There is usually no reason to pursue the trustee, but keep your receipts in case a question comes up later.

You are not sure which platform you used

Search your inbox for the words deposit, booking confirmation and the names BookYogaRetreats, BookYogaTeacherTraining and BookRetreats. The sender address and the footer of the email usually reveal which company took the payment. If you still cannot tell, forward the emails to us and we will point out what we can see, without guessing.

What a good written confirmation should contain

Whether the offer comes from YogaFX or anyone else, insist on a written statement before you pay or travel. A useful confirmation covers six points, and you can use this list to check ours.

  1. The exact credit amount and the currency it is held in.
  2. The name of the course and the start and end dates.
  3. The balance still to be paid and when it falls due.
  4. What happens if you need to change dates, and whether any fee applies.
  5. Whether the credit can be used for an online course or only the Bali programme.
  6. How any refund you later receive from a third party would be handled.

If any item on the list is missing, ask for it. We would rather answer a long list of questions than have someone book on an assumption. The point of the written confirmation is that both sides know exactly what has been agreed.

How long does a review take

We cannot give a fixed turnaround because it depends on how complete your documents are and how many enquiries arrive at once. In practice, a clear email with the booking confirmation and proof of payment attached is reviewed fastest. A reply that asks for something extra is normal and does not mean the answer will be no. If your preferred course date is close, say so in your first message so we can prioritise accordingly.

Mistakes to avoid

  1. Do not delete emails or accounts on the old platform. They are your evidence.
  2. Do not assume BookRetreats and BookYogaRetreats are the same business.
  3. Do not wait for the trustee before contacting your bank, because chargeback windows can close.
  4. Do not rely on a verbal promise from anyone, including us. Ask for the terms in writing.
  5. Do not pay a second deposit anywhere until you know who will hold it and what protects it.

Booking direct in future

When you book a training again, ask the school directly what its deposit terms are and where the money sits. A direct booking can sometimes be cheaper than the same course through a marketplace, with a saving of up to approximately 20 percent being a reasonable thing to ask about. That figure is a question to put to any provider, not a guaranteed discount. If a USD 2,000 course were 20 percent lower, you would pay USD 1,600, but only a written quote counts.

Why YogaFX is offering this

People who paid a deposit were planning a serious commitment of time, money and energy. The platform failing was not their doing, and many of them will feel stuck between a bankruptcy process that moves slowly and a training date they still want. We cannot fix the bankruptcy. What we can do is look at each case honestly and, where the paperwork supports it, offer a way forward that does not ask you to pay the same money twice.

We also want to be clear about the limits. Some requests will not qualify, for example if the deposit cannot be verified or the original booking was not for a comparable course. In those cases we will say so plainly and, where we can, suggest what else to try.

How to reach us

Write to info@yogafx.com with the subject line Tripaneer deposit. Include the platform, deposit amount and currency, payment date, booking reference and the dates you would prefer. If you are still deciding whether teacher training is for you, the short readiness quiz is a low-pressure place to start.

Do not despair. YogaFX is here to help, and we would rather answer your specific situation than send a template.

FAQ

What should I do first after the Tripaneer bankruptcy?

Save your confirmation, receipt and payment proof, then contact your bank or card provider about dispute options, because time limits can be short. After that, ask your host about the booking and check your insurance. You can contact YogaFX at the same time.

Is a Tripaneer deposit refundable?

That is not yet known. The trustee has said claims for bookings not yet taken cannot currently be paid. You can file a claim, ask your payment provider about a dispute, and check insurance, but none of these routes is guaranteed.

How does the YogaFX deposit credit work?

You send proof of your verified deposit. If YogaFX can apply it, we confirm in writing the credit, the course, dates and balance. It reduces the price of a YogaFX course in Bali and is not paid out as cash.

Does this apply to BookRetreats bookings?

BookRetreats says it is independent of Tripaneer, so its bookings are outside this bankruptcy. Contact BookRetreats and your host first. If you have questions about a different situation, email YogaFX and we will tell you honestly what we can do.

What details does YogaFX need from me?

We need the platform name, booking confirmation, deposit amount and currency, payment date, original course or retreat, preferred training dates, and details of any refund you have received or requested.
